During our next local event, we will visit the Inselgalerie in Berlin Friedrichshain, where we will meet members of its team. The director, Eva Hübner, together with her colleague, Gabriela Ivan, will talk about the beginnings, the profile and the actual situation of the gallery. We will also engage in a conversation about possible strategies artists could use to approach galleries to showcase their work, as well as constraints and opportunities inherent to diverse gallery types. We will then develop on networks as an essential way of expanding artistic presence, exchanging information, and getting further artistic training.

The event will be streamed on the Artist-Pilots YouTube channel.

The event is accessible for people with mobility impairments. Participants with visual impairments or blindness can be assisted.

* INSELGALERIE *

The INSELGALERIE Berlin is a project of the non-profit women’s initiative XANTHIPPE that was founded in 1993. From the beginning, the gallery programme included not only exhibitions, but also readings, talks, lectures and concerts, all primarily led by and involving women. Inselgalerie strives to challenge and raise awareness about the working conditions of women artists and the structural obstacles they are often confronted with.
Through consistent and high-quality exhibitions and experimental offers, the gallery brings this topic into public consciousness and thus promotes artistic discourse. Along with the presentation of contemporary artists and through a newly launched series of cabinet exhibitions, the Inselgalerie wants to commemorate the many pioneers who worked in the 20th century.
