Earlier this year, we organised an online information session that focused on the challenges of writing a successful project proposal for arts funding applications.  In the following session, we will look at how to write a budget proposal, which is mandatory when applying for art project funding. Creating an overall budget for your project and understanding the requirements for an acceptable budget proposal that each funding agency defines individually can be overwhelming. At the nextonline information session, our guest expert Nadine Lorenz will help you face this challenge. Last year, Nadine Lorenz spoke about managing finances in relation to acquired funding. Now she will discuss what to consider when drafting a budget for an arts funding application in Germany, with a focus on Berlin.

Nadine Lorenz

Nadine Lorenz holds a degree in Sociology and has been working in the cultural sector since 2008, focusing on the financing and implementation of art and cultural projects.
In 2008, she grounded the association WerkStadt Kulturverein, where she carried out a large number of projects and worked as its managing director until 2016. Between 2010 and 2019, Lorenz implemented various environmental projects in Nordneukölln. In 2018, Nadine Lorenz joined the team of the association Kulturnetzwerk Neukölln, where she took over the finance management of the “48 Stunden Neukölln” festival. Since 2020, together with Ilka Normann, Lorenz has been working as a co-director of the association Kulturnetzwerk Neukölln.
Through her long experience in working directly with artists, Nadine Lorenz could gain a solid insight of the pitfalls related to funding and develop an expertise in the financial management of art and cultural projects.

Participation is free and open to all. The session is held in German, with consecutive interpreting into English.
